Pine Baby Brand Review
All babies deserve to play-- and all babies deserve a wardrobe that’s built for their energetic lifestyles, as well. On top of being bad for the environment, fast fashion often leaves children wearing through cheaply made clothing long before the garments can end up as a hand-me-down or thrift store donation.
The solution, of course, is to look to small businesses that are producing durable, well-stitched clothing created to last. Pine Baby is a Canadian fashion retailer that makes super comfortable, wearable clothes that can withstand play dates and lazy Sundays alike.
We tried Pine Baby products ourselves and wrote down some of our favourite things about the brand here:
A Small Town Small Business
Pine Baby is a true Canadian small business, operated by a stay-at-home mother with a passion for sewing with local pick-up available in the tiny town of Clarington, Ontario.
Oftentimes, local businesses get things right that major fashion companies do not, including the need for long-lasting, high-quality clothes over easily disposable fast fashion outfits. We definitely loved the longevity of Pine Baby clothing, and the knowledge that we are supporting a small business was just icing on the cake.
Colourful, Cozy Capsule Wardrobes
In all honesty, Pine Baby clothing is probably not right for you if you are looking for strictly formal wear-- these outfits are made for lounging, moving and most importantly, playing.
Although all of their clothes were made from soft and stretchy cotton, the coziest item was by far their adorable lounge set, which is great for spending chilly winter days bundled up at home. We also appreciated the wide selection of colours available, from bright, eye-catching pinks to earthier green and navy shades.
Adorable Animal Prints
The best thing about Canadian fashion is the proud embrace of nature. Plenty of Pine Baby’s outfits are adorned with geese, polar bears and other woodland creatures native to the area.
If you are looking for cute, animal-themed outfits without such a strong woodsy vibe, we could not get enough of these dino spike hoodies (customizations are available at checkout!).
Pick-Up and Shipping Information
Pick-up is available to locals, but you can also have your order shipped, or shop for items at their two stockists, Nordique Boutique in Bowmanville and Modern Makers Shop in Peterborough.
If you love in-person shopping, you can also find them at a number of events and markets-- sadly, events are currently postponed due to the ongoing pandemic, but in the future you can keep track of where Pine Baby will be next here.
Our Final Thoughts
If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to support more small businesses, Pine Baby is a great place to start. We loved the softness and durability of their clothes, and our only wish is that they carried more sizes (most items have infant and toddler sizes, but nothing for older children).
Ultimately, we had a great experience with Pine Baby clothing, and we are looking forward to their future collections.
